What’s the Heart? What’s Cardiology? What’s heart disease and what are Cardiology symptoms? Is the heart related to the arteries and the blood vessels and the nerves? Can heart disease be treated in Iran? We are here to answer these questions.

Heart

The heart is an integral organ of the circulatory system and the process of pumping blood to all the organs of the body is done by the heart. The rib cage protects the heart and that’s because of its importance inside the body and the survival of the human. The size of human heart is roughly a fist.

Blood vessels are systems that distributes blood in the body and this process is done through the systole of the heart to pump blood regularly. The heart has four chambers that work together to perform the heart function and pump the blood. These chambers are placed on the left and the right side. The right chambers include the unclean and deoxygenated blood, and the left chambers include clean blood and blood that contains oxygen.

Cardiology

Cardiology is considered one of the branches of internal medicine and is concerned with the treatment of heart disease, health and circulatory system. The branch of Cardiology diagnoses diseases and the symptoms of them. A cardiologist is a specialist in this field. Cardiology includes the functions of some branches such as cardiology and arteries, interventional cardiology, heart and neurology, nuclear cardiology and other relevant cardiovascular issues.

Heart disease and symptoms

What kind of diseases affect the heart? The heart is an organ consisted of different parts and its function is related to other organs. This is why the heart is regarded as one of the important organs in the body and it is necessary to know heart diseases in order to prevent or treat them. We give you some information about common heart diseases then we mention the disease and explain some information and symptoms of any heart disease such as shortness of breath, fatigue and chest pain, which are common among all heart diseases.

Vascular disease and symptoms

The circulatory blood system consists of different vessels and multiple arteries. This system is concerned with the transfer of blood, which contains oxygen and this is done from the heart to the tissues and all organs of the body. Vascular disease stems from the adherence of cholesterol to the walls of the vessels and include narrowing or blockage of blood vessels. Vascular diseases are divided into many types and atherosclerosis is a factor that causes coronary heart disease, heart attack and angina.

Symptoms of vascular disease:

  1. Chest pain and chest-tightness
  2.  Pain in the neck or throat or jaw
  3. Shortness of breath
  4. Feeling weakness or pain in the arms
  5. Pain in the back or abdomen

Arrhythmias and symptoms

The irregular heartbeat is regarded as one of the latest heart diseases that leads to poor blood circulation and is associated with the speed of heart rate. In this disease the heart beats either very slowly or very quickly. Arrhythmias occurs when the heart is confronted with some changes in the short circuit of the heart or in the electrical system related to the heart. The irregular heartbeat may lead to an increased risk of stroke and heart failure.

Symptoms of arrhythmias:

  1. Difficulty breathing
  2. Dizziness
  3.  Chest pain
  4. Unconsciousness or Syncope
  5. Fast or slow heartbeat

Congenital heart defects and symptoms

Congenital heart defects or congenital heart disease is a disease exists in the body and heart since birth and is associated with defects of the heart structure and major vessels. This disease may lead to obstruction and delay blood flow in the heart or vessels. This disease may lead to obstruction and delay blood flow in the heart or vessels. When the heart is opposed to its non-formation in the body of the fetus, the baby is born with congenital heart disease and will face some minor or major problems that leads to hardship in life.

Symptoms of congenital heart disease:

Heart infection and symptoms

Heart infection is a disease associated with myocardial infection and inflammation of the inner lining of the heart, which affects the inner membrane of the heart specifically the endocardium whose task is to find gaps between the valves and heart chambers.

Symptoms of heart infection:

  1.  Breathing difficulty
  2. Fatigue
  3. Weakness
  4. High temperature and fever
  5. Leg and abdomen swelling
  6. Cough
  7.  Emergence of unfamiliar patches or rashes

Heart valves diseases and symptoms

The process of blood flow inside the heart depends on the heart valves. The heart has four valves that perform this operation: aortic valve, mitral valve, pulmonary valve and tricuspid valve. Sometimes these valves have some defects called heart valve diseases which are narrowing of the valves, re-entry of blood into the heart and finding defects in the closure of the valves.

Symptoms of heart valves:

  1. Breathing difficulty
  2. chest pain
  3. Fatigue
  4. Fainting
  5. Swollen feet or ankles

Cardiac failure

Heart failure or congestive heart failure is a common heart disease. In this disease the heart is unable to pump enough blood to all organs of the body and this pumped blood contains oxygen which is regarded one of the most important factors in body functions. Some of the causes leading to heart failure are heart attack and high blood pressure or diabetes.

Heart disease treatment

As we read there are many heart diseases and therefore, there are types of medicine and surgery to treat these diseases and because of the serious and crucial task the heart carries, we have to protect it and when we are faced with symptoms, we should visit a cardiologist and follow his prescription till we get full recovery.

Some medicine:

Drugs for lower cholesterol, clopidogrel, aspirin, warfarin, beta blockers and other drugs.

Some surgeries to treat heart disease:

Open heart surgery, heart transplantation, artificial heart transplantation, heart valve replacement, atrial fibrillation, pacemaker implantation, angioplasty, cardiac catheterization and pericardial resection.
