Cataract surgery is a procedure in which the faulty lens inside the eye is removed and replaced with an artificial one. Glaucoma is a condition in which the optic nerve is damaged, causing vision loss. The increased pressure in your eye damages the optic nerve and if the damage worsens, glaucoma can cause vision loss. It often gets worse over time, so you don't get it until a later time.

The cause of color blindness is the malfunction of cone cells in the retina. A doctor can diagnose Strabismus by only looking at the child's eyes, if it was obvious enough, in which the eyes do not look at the same point at a time. In some other cases, the doctor may perform a test called cover-uncover test, a movement in the eye while uncovering it indicates Strabismus.

Treatment of Strabismus has different options, but each depends on the type of the Strabismus (deviation angel, eyes' direction, etc.) the patient suffers from and some other factors like lazy eye or double vision. 

Most of the time, infants and children by age 3 develop Strabismus, although this doesn't mean that older children or adults never develop Strabismus. It is known between people that infantile Strabismus fades away when the child grows; it is not always true; some children can develop a more severe condition if left untreated.

Yes, it is hereditary and it can go through the family. Although if one of the members was affected, it doesn't mean that the next affected member will carry the same type of Strabismus of even the same severity. However, if one of the parents was affected, they need to evaluate every child have periodically. 

You will probably suffer from red and somewhat a sore eye. But any redness or bleeding vessels in the eye fade between two to three weeks. You may feel like there is something like sand or dust in your eye, but all these sensations will subside. You will be able to resume your daily activities within a few days

Several examinations help us detect Strabismus and also associated Amblyopia if found. Light reflex testing shows us the alignment of the eyes by asking your child to look directly at a point of light. The other test uses prisms to analyze the alignment of your child's eyes.

Well, Strabismus can be caused by several issues. The first cause is an underlying problem with the muscle moving the eye, and the second cause can be described a problem in nerves that transfer signals from the brain to the muscle or the control-center of eye-movement in the brain. Strabismus can also occur as a result of some other health condition, or an injury.

Pain receptors vary widely between people and the same applies to strabismus surgery. Some people may feel pain more than others, while others might not experience any serious pain. The prominent experience of patients is a moderate pain that responds to painkillers and this pain period differs due to patients, beginning from hours and might last till days.

Almost all surgeries' success rate is between 60% to 80%, and for Strabismus, it is 80%.

Most of the time, you can continue your daily activities within a few days after the surgery. During your first few days after, your eye alignment can indicate the final result. However, more stable results may not be very obvious until 4 to 6 weeks after your surgery.

Causes of Keratoconus are; heredity, weakness in collagen, using contact lens without consulting an eye doctor, frequent eye rubbing. 

The Keratoconus can't be treated with medication; however, the medications are helpful in fixating the cornea when wearing contact lens or glasses. Some of these medications steroidal eye drops, cyclosporine, topical antibiotics, and localized fixative cells. 

Keratoconus has two types of treatment: surgical and non-surgical treatment. 

The non-surgical treatment is wearing glasses or contact lens to keep the cornea stable. The surgical treatments for the Keratoconus are the process of fixating the cornea and corneal transplant plus corneal truncation via laser. 

No, LASIK surgery requires a balanced cornea, but when you have Keratoconus, the shape of the cornea is distorted, and this can prevent the LASIK surgery.

The most common among all other causes are both injuries and aging.

If left untreated, retinal detachment can cause blindness. Still, the severity of complications depends on the type and severity of the detachment when the retina is left or pulled from the position it is supposed to be. The patient might experience blurred vision or degrees of vision loss.

The progression grossly depends on the underlying reason which caused the retinal detachment in the first place. This rate can vary from a few days to weeks. Other facts affecting the time of progression are the number and the size of tears in the retina, and also the patient's age.

Yes, if you rub your eyes, hardly you may progress a retinal detachment, also rubbing can harm the front of your eyes.

After the surgery, you may experience discomfort. If the surgery is sclera buckling, you will experience blurred vision. It will take a few weeks to three or six months to get back your earlier vision, depending on the patient's condition and the type of surgery.

It usually takes one to two hours to fix your retina, and surgeons usually prefer the surgery under local anesthesia where you are awake. However, you feel nothing in your eyes, even the minimum complications of anesthesia. 

You will usually have a recommendation to undergo cataract surgery, especially if the surgery type you had was applying intravitreal gas. Also, the trauma happening due to the surgery can cause injury to the lens, which induces cataract.

If the surgery is a single vitrectomy or scleral buckle, the success rate will be around 85%. If any additional procedures are performed, the success rate gets over 95% of successfully reattached retinas. However, it sometimes takes several months to get the best vision accuracy.

This depends on the type of surgery you undergo. For laser surgery or cryopexy, you will be able to have your normal daily activities within a few days, but you need to be aware not to do any strenuous things until your eye is fully healed. On the other hand, for retinal reattachment surgery, you will probably be able to return to your normal life within two weeks.

You will have to wear sunglasses during the day, and you might need to use a patch for few days according to your physician's recommendation. If your surgery were an inserting gas bubble into your vitreous, you would need to keep your head still in the same position for most of the time during the first 1 to 3 weeks. Your physicians will give you an instruction after the surgery.

If the patient had a low-risk tear without experiencing any symptoms, he might not need surgery, and the physician would only observe the patient. That is because some tears make adhesions by themselves around the tear, so only observation would be enough.

Pain experience differs from one patient to another, but usually, you will have pain accompanied by blurred vision, swollen eye, redness, and some tenderness. But often, all these side effects disappear after a few weeks.

The chances of rejection in a corneal transplant are not very high. In fact, corneal transplantations are the most successful of all tissue transplants.
